Talking on the phone, taking pictures, and watching a Harley drill team ride through Virginia City...

Mile is getting some warm Nevada sun on those "Lily White" Canadian legs.
Friendly Turtles! The Gas Station/General Store at Topaz put in a candy counter. There's some mighty good looking things in there!
Two Gold Wings! Two with VROC plates. Two with Traxxion Suspension. Two with ZUMO 550 GPS. Two with Sanyo Bluetooth phones, etc., etc. It's always good to see Skid and Sandy roll in!

The crowd is just starting to roll in. Here's Cat and Jim, Jest, Phil, Duke, Sandy and Skid. We're waiting to check in to our rooms, the Lodge is letting us in an hour early.
It's always interesting what Don takes out of the "stable" to ride. For this trip, he's on one of his BMW bikes.
Tiny rolls in with Don and Mike. They made him ride in the back because he lost his baffles somewhere...One loud motorcycle! :-)
Someone posted a picture of Skid polishing his wheels last week...I think it was a "staged" shot, since this is what it looks like now!
_____, Jim Hunt back, Mike, Laura, Sandy, Skid, Carl & Ed, the Kingman Brothers. Ed just had a triple bypass 7 weeks ago, so they came up in a car.

The guy is the General Manager, and the lady is the Parts Manager for Wing Worx.
All 4 walls are full of chrome and other goodies. There are lots of Island displays too, all over the store.
Pink is in this year. All sorts of pink, pink and white, and pink and black items. I saw a nice Shoei helmet in pink and black with a $692 price tag on it!
Donner Lake. It's nce and cool up here compared to the low country. Some guy wanted me to take his picture with his camera, then offered to snap me, so took him up on it.

Just crossed the Pass, 7300 feet here on I-80

I stopped for something to drink just passed Truckee, down Hwy 89 a ways. Saw this fork oil coming out. It was 2 PM. I pulled into the Wing Worx at 3:30. Ended up leaving a little after 5. Long story, which I won't get into here, but even though I'm happy with the new parts, Wing Worx will never get any more of my business.

Lobby of the Day's Inn, in North Highlands, CA. The WiFi signal in my room is weak, so I was working on the blog out here in the lobby. Almost 7:30 PM, and there is a line clear out to the outside waiting to check in. This was a very large boy standing in front of me!

Don took this picture of Mike and I in front of our dinner place. http://www.yelp.com/biz/vinces-italian-restaurant-elk-grove
I'm really not that short, Mike is just TALL! He left Calgary, AB, just a couple days ago on his Wing. Did an Iron Butt the first day (over 1000 miles in much less than 24 hours) Then a leisurly day yesterday put him in Stockton and the Casa de Inamasu. They drove up to North Highlands where I'm staying in a motel, for a little sight seeing and dinner. If all goes well, the Blue Wing will be finished tomorrow (late Wednesday) and I'll be on my way to the Gold Country, and the High Sierra's.
Vince's in Oak Grove was the Dinner d' jour. A very old and Classy Italian restaurant. The walls reek with history. I just loved this place!

First came the wine, then the bread. Then bowls of minestrone soup, then a good salad with fresh made dressing. Followed with more bread, and then pasta with tomato/meat sauce on it. Then the entree' of top sirloin, and a baked potato. We finished off with some Spumoni ice cream. I'd planned on a nice cup of coffee, but was too stuffed to drink one. Quality of everything was totally excellent! Don sure did a good job picking this place. After dinner, he took Mike and I on a tour of Old Town Elk Grove. The temp was reading 102 degrees!

Still life of some Bread and Vino. We posished of two loaves of this hard crusted hot bread.
Benjamin "Benny" Domingos was our waiter. Very polished and professional! He's been here a lot of years. The picture is of a Tuscany Garden

This young lady is the 3rd generation of this family owned business. The picture is of her Grandfather and a couple uncles. She's learning the business now.

This old General store was established in 1885. California was really booming in those days! It hasn't stopped.

Mike snapping a Tiger Lily. Old Town Elk Grove is full of beautiful flowers.

Don took us here 3 or 4 years ago. The Market Exchange area in Sacramento. This is where the farmers bring their produce into be distributed every morning. It's been here since the very early 1900's. Unless you know it's here, you won't find it! And, there's nothing on the building to say it's a place to eat. Don has been coming here for years, he remembers the "Good Old Days"!
This is Jim, the owner. He told me to picture over the mirror was taken in 1937. It's really much the same, just newer vehicles. He said this business has always been the center of activities. At one time a night club, bordello, card room, and always has offered food. He was surprised that I was there, they don't advertise, and there's no signs anywhere indicating there is a place to eat here.

One of the breakfast specials is fried Bologna and eggs. Served with either rice or hash browns, and raisin toast. It was good. I'm headed for Wing Worx now to check on all the arrangements for the work tomorrow, then will spend the day at a Days Inn, just waiting............The WiFi doesn't work well in my room, but it's fine here in the lobby. I chose the room I have because I can park right in front of it, and , it was easier to haul everything in to re-organize..

9 AM, June 14, 2008. Leaving Coos Bay, it's 54 degrees with bright sun. I'll be taking my time for the next couple of days, will be having a new Traxxion suspension put in this bike while in Sacramento, CA., then, off the the High Sierra's for the VROC rally. When I stopped for the night in Redding, CA, it was 101 degrees at 3:30 PM! After 8 months of riding scooters, I had to learn all over what all the buttons and things on the Wing did. The Bluetooth phone system I installed last October worked real well for 'hands free' talking.

Many of the small farms have been "haying". This field is freshly baled up. Between the evergreens and the hay fields, it was a morning of pleasant scents!
Roseburg Forest Products in Dilliard, OR. One of the few large lumber and plywood mills left.
First Stop, 90 miles from home. This is by the S. Umpqua River near Winston, almost to I-5. I stopped to take off my jacket.
This truck was pulling a gooseneck trailer loaded with the large round "marshmellow" kind of hay bales. I thought this little dog was cute. I was talking to Brillo on the Bluetooth phone when I took this picture. He was back on a ride at the Boscobel Rally in Wisconson
One of my favorite stores is just off this exit. It's an old timer, still have wood floors. Not taking the time to stop today. It's warm, I'm feeling just too good to stop yet.
Mount Shasta in the distance. Looks like a lot of snow has melted early this year.

Usually this is the case, but today we were blessed with bright sunshine! I lathered down with Bullfrog before leaving home.
